Africa News Habari! Tragicomic journey from the slums of Nairobi Italy self-employment! SCHOOL LIBRARY JOURNAL

E 'being built the meeting-debate Habari! Tragicomic journey from the slums of Nairobi self-occupied Italy.
This is a lab project with lyrics and music (African drumming) from Valentina Acava Mmaka and Peter Kuria Asamba who want to focus on the contradictions of Italy today and reflect on common themes (racism, work , art, poverty, lifestyle, youth, school etc ...) told from a perspective internal to Africa, specifically in Kenya. The project is aimed at a diverse audience, including high school students who will benefit from this contribution as an opportunity to exchange and compare the intercultural issues paving the way to overcome the prejudices that surround the continent of Africa and its citizens in Italy. The idea
course of the meeting is based on the principle that Africa can not be explained, Africa must be told.
The narrative text in Italian and Kiswahili, and modulated by rhythmic percussion, deals with "lightness" irony and the contradictions and tragedies of today's multi-ethnic society offering food for thought for a dialogue of many voices.

schools, associaizoni, libraries, cultural centers interested in booking the meeting may contact vmmaka@yahoo.com or by calling 333 2919864.

JERI PROJECT - KENYA

This image shows some of the girls who go to Jericho Primary School in Jericho, Nairobi, Kenya. We spent a pleasant afternoon together talking about their dreams, their hobbies, their families and their playtime. All these girls love to read, we found that the Jericho Primary School does not have a library for this project through the Kabiliana , want to work on creating a library of books in English for children aged 6 to 12 years. Anyone wishing to donate books can contact us.
